Jack Armstrong, a detective duo with a fractious relationship. Jack is lazy and disorganised but charming whereas Kate is efficient and usually exasperated by Jack's way of doing things.
The show also stars Rory Kinnear who plays Kate's husband Dan, with whom she is going through marriage counselling. Vexed Season 2 Episode 2 - Jack is joined by earnest new partner Georgina 'George' Dixon to investigate the murder of car salesman Carl Mercer,whose corpse is found in the boot of a car at his work-place.
Jack is convinced the killer is one of his work colleagues,including service manager Dave Jackson and his daughter,receptionist Debbie,who was engaged to Carl,or sales rival Emma. Top of the list is Debbie's jealous ex-boyfriend Ryan Kinnock,who detested Carl. To lazy Jack's annoyance George makes him help her check the suspects' phone records and he actually finds the person who had sex with Carl the night he died. This in turn leads to George unmasking the killer.
Vexed Season 2 Episode 2 - When three single women are murdered and the only link is their Loyalty program purchases, Kate is set up as a potential victim to flush out the killer.
The use of Loyalty program records proves both good and bad for Jack and Kate's love lives, career paths and their relationship with each other. Jack and Kate find themselves entering the world of therapy when a depressed banker, with many enemies, being treated at a private rehabilitation clinic is targeted by a hit-man and their investigations lead them to look for the killer amongst the other patients.
The high profile kidnap of a girl band member, Gemma G, puts an uncomfortable spotlight on Jack and Kate when the ransom drop goes wrong and suspicion falls on the band's publicity seeking manager Richard Anderson. These two could not be more different to each other and the sparks immediately start to fly as Jack gets increasingly wound up by Georgina's determination to solve their first case together and Georgina becomes exasperated by his casual attitude.
Vexed Season 2 Episode 2 - Police detectives Jack and Georgina are sent to investigate the murder of a student on a modern university campus and find themselves drawn into the complicated and overly PC world of gender politics.
